Rotate PDF Pages

Straighten a sideways scan or turn a single page the right way up — without uploading the document or re-compressing anything inside it.

Files are never uploaded

How to use it

Add the PDF

Drop the file onto the box above, or click to browse. The tool reads the page count, so you can plan which pages actually need turning.

Pick the angle

Choose 90° clockwise for a page lying on its side, 180° for one that is upside down, or 90° counter-clockwise to go the other way.

Choose the pages

Leave the setting on "Every page" when the whole document is the wrong way up. Choose "Only the pages I list" and type numbers such as "1, 3, 5-7" when just a few are sideways.

Rotate and check

Press Rotate PDF. Every page stays in its place; only the orientation changes, so nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.

Download the result

Save the rotated file with the Download button. The original file on your computer is left exactly as it was.

Common issues

The page looks correct but comes out upside down

Rotation is added to whatever angle a page already carries. If a page ends up wrong, start again from the original file with the opposite angle rather than rotating the finished result a second time.

Only some pages were supposed to turn

The default setting turns every page. If only your landscape scans are sideways, switch to "Only the pages I list" — otherwise the upright pages are turned as well and end up on their side.

Another program still shows the page sideways

A few viewers ignore a page’s rotation flag. The rotation really is stored in the file, but not every piece of software honours it, so check the result in the reader you actually use.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. The angle is stored as a page attribute rather than by redrawing the page, so text, images and vector art are untouched, and nothing is re-compressed.
How do I rotate a single page?
Set "Which pages to rotate" to "Only the pages I list", then type that page number, for example "3".
Can I rotate only the landscape pages?
Not automatically — the tool works from the page numbers you give it, not from each page’s shape. List the pages you want to turn, for example "1, 4, 7".
What is the difference between 90° and 270°?
90° turns a page clockwise; 270° (90° counter-clockwise) turns it a quarter turn the other way. Use 270° when you overshot with 90° and want to go back.
Can I undo a rotation?
Run the tool on the original file again with the opposite angle. Rotation adds to the angle a page already carries rather than replacing it, so turning an already-turned file again by 90° gives you 180°.
Do the page numbers in my list have to be in order?
No. "5, 2, 9" behaves exactly like "2, 5, 9" — the list is read as a set of pages, not as a sequence.
Does it work on password-protected PDFs?
No. Encrypted files have to be unlocked before their pages can be rewritten. Remove the password in your PDF reader and save an unlocked copy first.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The rotation happens in your browser and the result is created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
What if I list a page that does not exist?
The tool names the number that is out of range and stops, so you can correct it instead of ending up with a file that quietly rotated the wrong pages.
