Merge PDF Files

Combine several PDFs into a single document in the order you choose. Everything runs inside your browser.

Files are never uploaded

How to use it

Add your PDF files

Drop the files onto the box above, or click it to browse. You can select as many PDFs as you need in one go.

Put them in order

Drag any row to move a file up or down. The first file in the list becomes the first pages of the merged document.

Name the result

The output file name is editable. Give it something meaningful so the merged file is easy to find later.

Merge

Press Merge PDF. Progress is shown as each document is read and appended in turn.

Download the result

When processing finishes, download the combined file. Nothing was sent anywhere during the process.

Common issues

One file in the list will not merge

The most common cause is an encrypted or damaged PDF. Locked files have to be unlocked first, and a file that was only partly downloaded will fail to parse.

Merging does not shrink or optimise the pages

The result is a plain concatenation of the originals, so the combined file is roughly the sum of its parts. Run Compress PDF on the merged file if the total is too large to email.

Page numbers and footers repeat in every document

Because the pages are copied exactly as they are, any numbering printed on them stays where it was. A continuous footer across the merged document would require editing the pages, which this tool deliberately does not do.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The merge is performed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Your files are read from local disk and the result is written straight back to your downloads — there is no server-side copy at any point.
Is there a file size limit?
We do not impose one. Because the whole operation happens in your browser, the practical limit is how much memory the tab can use. Very large documents may be slow on low-memory devices.
Can I change the order of the files?
Yes. Drag any row in the list to reorder it. The merged PDF follows the order shown, top to bottom.
Will the result have a watermark?
No. The output contains only the pages you supplied, copied as-is. We add no watermark, cover page or branding.
Why does a password-protected PDF fail to merge?
An encrypted document has to be unlocked before its pages can be read. Open it in your PDF viewer, remove the password, save an unlocked copy, and merge that instead.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied into the new document without re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
Can I merge a PDF with a password?
No. An encrypted file has to be unlocked in a viewer and saved without a password before its pages can be read. Then merge the unlocked copy.
Can I merge images and PDFs together in one pass?
Not directly. Use JPG to PDF to turn a set of images into a single PDF first, then merge that with the other documents.
Does the merge keep each file page size?
Yes. Each page keeps its own dimensions, so mixing A4 and US Letter pages in one document is fine and every page prints as it was originally laid out.
