Convert Excel to PDF

Print a spreadsheet to PDF without wrestling with page setup. Each worksheet becomes its own page, columns are scaled to fit the paper, and a long table keeps its header row on every page. Your file never leaves your browser.

Files are never uploaded

How to use it

Add the spreadsheet

Drop in an .xlsx, .xls, .csv or .ods file, or click to browse. The first worksheet is read first, and every other worksheet follows in order.

Choose the page shape

Leave it on Landscape for tables with several columns; switch to Portrait for a long, narrow list. A4 suits most countries, US Letter suits North America.

Convert the workbook

Press Convert. Cell values are read as you see them in the sheet — a date stays a date, a formatted number keeps its format — and drawn as real text in a table.

Check wide or tall tables

Open the PDF and look at your widest row. Columns are sized to their content and the whole grid is scaled down together if it would overflow the page, so nothing is cut off — but a very wide sheet is drawn smaller.

Download the PDF

Save the file. Multi-sheet workbooks give you one continuous PDF, with each worksheet starting on a fresh page.

Common issues

A very wide sheet prints small

If a table has many columns, the whole grid is scaled down to fit the paper width. Switch to Landscape, or split the sheet into fewer columns, before converting.

Uncalculated formulas show stale values

The tool reads stored values rather than recalculating. If a workbook was edited elsewhere and not saved by Excel, the cached numbers it holds may be out of date.

Empty rows and blank sheets vanish

Fully blank rows are dropped and a worksheet with no data produces no page. This keeps the PDF free of large empty stretches, but it also means intentional spacing gaps in the sheet do not survive.

Chart objects are not drawn

Charts and embedded images inside the workbook have no equivalent here. Only the cell grid is converted; export the chart separately if it matters.

Frequently asked questions

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?
No. The workbook is opened and rendered inside your browser. The numbers, names and addresses it contains are never transmitted anywhere.
Which spreadsheet formats are supported?
Excel .xlsx and the older .xls, plain .csv comma-separated text, and OpenDocument .ods — the format LibreOffice and Google Sheets can export.
How are the columns sized?
Each column is measured against its widest cell, then the whole set of columns is scaled down together if the total would be wider than the printable area. That means nothing is cut off, at the cost of smaller text on very wide sheets.
What happens to a table that runs past the bottom of the page?
It continues on the next page, and the first row — treated as the header — is repeated at the top of each new page so the columns stay labelled.
Do formulas get calculated?
No. The values stored in the file are used, which is what you normally see. A file that was saved with a pending calculation may show stale numbers; open it once in Excel or LibreOffice and save it so the values are up to date.
Are colours and cell formatting kept?
Not the original colours. The output is a clean, legible table with a shaded header row. Text alignment, fills, borders and conditional formatting from the sheet are not reproduced, which is deliberate — it makes a spreadsheet read well on paper.
What about multiple worksheets?
Every worksheet with data becomes part of the PDF, each starting on a new page. When there is more than one, the worksheet name is printed as a heading above its table.
Can I convert a CSV file?
Yes. A .csv file is treated as a single-sheet workbook, which makes “CSV to PDF” the same job as “Excel to PDF”. The first row is read as the header.
Does it keep the numeric precision of my data?
Cells are drawn as they are displayed in the sheet, so a number formatted to two decimal places prints with two decimal places. Underlying full precision is not invented or truncated — what you see in the sheet is what appears.
