Convert PDF to PNG

Export pages as PNG images when you need lossless quality for a slide, a ticket, a thumbnail or a design file.

Files are never uploaded

How to use it

Add your PDF

Drop the document onto the box above, or click to browse. Each page produces one PNG image.

Choose the resolution

Standard suits sharing and slides. Pick High when the image will be zoomed in or printed, and Screen for quick previews where size matters most.

Convert

Press Convert to PNG. The progress bar shows which page is being drawn, so you can tell the difference between a slow render and a stalled tab.

Check the images

Every page appears as its own row with its size, so you can confirm the resolution before you save anything.

Download

Save one image, or use the download-all button to fetch the whole set as separate PNG files.

Common issues

Huge output from a long document

A fifty page report at high resolution can produce hundreds of megabytes of PNG. Lower the resolution, or convert a few pages at a time.

Assuming the text is still there

The output is a picture. If a colleague needs to copy a paragraph, they will need the original PDF, not the PNG.

Using PNG for photo-heavy pages

For a page that is mostly a photograph, JPG at good quality looks the same at normal viewing size and is far smaller. PNG earns its size on text and line art.

Very high resolution on a phone

Rendering large pages at High can exhaust the memory a mobile browser allows. Use Standard resolution on mobile devices.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose PNG over JPG?
PNG is lossless, so sharp text and flat colour areas come out clean and free of compression marks. It is the better pick for page screenshots, diagrams and anything with crisp lines.
Are PNG files much bigger?
Usually yes, often several times the size of the equivalent JPG, because every pixel is stored exactly. If size matters more than fidelity, use PDF to JPG instead.
What resolution should I pick?
Standard at 144 dpi covers sharing and slides. Use High for zooming or printing, and Screen for fast previews.
Will the background be transparent?
No. Pages are drawn onto white, so the PNG has a white background. A PDF page does not carry a transparency layer for the renderer to preserve.
Can all the pages be one image?
No, each page becomes a separate file. The download-all button saves the whole set in one go.
Is the text still selectable?
No. Once a page is an image, the text becomes pixels. Keep the original PDF if you need searchable or copyable text.
Why is the first page slow to appear?
The browser loads the PDF renderer and parses the document before the first page can be drawn. Later pages follow much faster.
Can I convert only certain pages?
Not in this tool. Use Extract PDF Pages first to pull out the sheets you want, then convert that smaller file.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Rendering happens entirely in your browser.
